I was lucky enough to have the day off, did you stay home?  :orly:

Yep, I called out...I could have made it in....but, the storm is supposed to get worse by the end of the shift.  I'm not putting my life in danger for a shitty job!  Both Carla and Amber were off, so it's a worry free day.......unless the power goes out.  Yep, the fear monger newscasts are saying possible power outages when the winds pick up.   ::)

Fortunately for me, my neighborhood is almost devoid of trees.  First the ice storm in '08
took out a bunch of them, then the following spring we had a lot more removed during the
infestation of Asian longhorned beetles.  So there are very few trees left to take down power lines.  8)

CBC - it's not necessarily your neighborhood you have to worry about.  Someplace upline may go down and you'll lose power.

Good advice from a pro:

When looking for a place to live try to move to somewhere on a critical path.  We're on the power path to the water treatment (sewer) plant and our electricity is restored very quickly when it goes out.  After Hurricane Katrina when we returned after 3 weeks, our ice cubes had barely melted in the freezer.  So the power was off for less than 24 hours.

Damn, that's right.  I keep forgetting.  :-[  When my building lost power, it was due to
a downed line in front of the house, but who knows what else could go wrong.  Better charge my
phone while I can.  And get my laundry done.  And try to find my flashlight.  And ... and ...  :GA:

Chilly but clear.  Yesterday the wind was really whipping about with trees and limbs down all over town

A bit of a cool-off after this evening's front goes through.  Then back into the mid to high 70's for the weekend.

expecting another 4 inches tonight and next week they are saying a 50/50 chance of a 30cm storm. So far it's been snowing every night and sometimes during the day. It's the irritating kind that is powdery and not good for snowmen or snow forts. Maybe next week's storm will be wetter.
