Blizzard conditions.  Looks like we may  be snowed in for seconds.

Looks like decent weather, so far.

Grey and dull. It's probably going to rain.

We had a really heavy, mild rain today. NO big winds or lightning, just a continuous downpour for almost two hours.

My farmer's rain gauge measured over an inch and a half.

Not bad after such a really hot previous two weeks.

Interestingly, we just had another inch of rain fall over the past two hours.

I would say that we need it, but parts of the area are under flood warnings.

I am safe and upon high ground.
While there is a major river just six blocks away from my back yard, we are almost two hundred feet above the normal river height.
The river can block us in with no way to get out of town (happened four times in the past ten years, but the rivers flow fast and fierce at that stage - opens up things after a day or two), but this seems like a normal thing not a panic thing.

Funny, kind of weird thing happened. I have not taken my wife out on a movie date (we have enjoyed many dinner dates - check our waste lines)  since the kids were very small.

She has been on vacation this week. I had Thursday off work, we went out to watch the new Star Trek movie AS A COUPLE for the first time alone in many (too many to remember) years.

The last time we did this we had a baby sitter, watching our young ones (competent teen niece) and the electricity went down during the movie. ON Thursday, we were enjoying our movie and the electricity went down.
WTF!

Really.
It was about twenty minutes before the theater had electricity again. She (went to pee) had a break, then I went out for a puff of my pipe, had a look at the kind of fucking awesome storm.
Once the movie started, the emergency lights were still on. We had to sit through the last half of the movie with the emergency lights blasting in our faces.

I was a little pissed. She just wanted to go after the movie but I found the right person to "pretend to be" aggressive toward. He gave us two free tickets to return for another matinee showing.

Sometimes, I just encase that energy and deal with it in some possibly harmful way inside myself, but when I use it, it usually works in my favor. It seems as if the entire world is full of weak sheep and will do anything to get someone out of their face, especially when that someone/the opponent has an argument that they can not even begin to oppose.

Anyway, we walked out of the theater to watch an enormously powerful, but very small storm head on its way after dumping havoc on our town for about an hour.

All in all the insane coincidence of having the power go off on our last two couple dates ten years apart just felt "normal" for us at this point.

OH, I plan to take the kids to see the movie "for free"  tomorrow. (we can spend even more on popcorn and treats for them) I mean since they had to go to school during our "date."  (part of the original plan)

I know, probably inappropriate and dishonest but DAMN IT!  It happened to us.

15.5°C and pissing down with rain at 7:12pm. Been doing that all day plus it is really windy. The cats are reluctant to go outside.
