I like Kurosawa's older films. Wasn't too fond of Ran.

Ran was the first film by him that I saw, I remember liking it.

I think my first might have been Seven Samurai. Love that film.

I hardly know anything about directors.

I don't know if Andy Kaufman directed anything, but he was the funniest guy who ever lived.

He was also the greatest troll ever. I love that man.

Indeed he was. Sucks he died of cancer. Well maybe he did. You never know with that guy.

mentioned here, spielberg (hey, he's foreign!) del toro, also danny boyle. others I don't remember off the top of my head.

spielberg is of a kind of category I like to call "well deserved hype"
there is a technical perfectionism there, I think many viewers take for granted - precisely because he intends them to.

"shining"
SORRY :D

I'm sortof meh about that movie, because I feel like it whirls around a bit randomly -
Title "shining", refering to the magical ability of the boy to communicate through telepathy.
What the title tries to sell: A story about magical telepathy.

Story progression focuses on the hotel, the father, his increasing insanity, the resident ghosts and wether or not they are "real" or figments of increasingly isolated minds.
What "shining"?
OH YES, hurry! Include something about "shining"
So, the boy magically, telepathically tells the expendable black dude that he needs to haul his ass over there, and 3 minutes later the black dude is dead, and there is no more "shining" to worry about. Wtf.

That is like titling Jurassic Park something like "Nedry's glasses" or something
