I set my bosses on edge, because I demanded that they either grant me access to the "secret systems" from which I am restricted, or stop with all their expectations of me doing the job they defined for me.
The simple thing is, if I am expected to manage a certain set of happenstances, then I NEED access to the way certain things work. They can not expect me to wait in the wings for a "performer" to log in for me. I am sick of this crap.
My immediate supe and my upper manager both witnessed my outspeak, BUT, neither have the ability to allow me this access, but my upper boss called the BIG boss and he just asked why they do not trust me. He asked why I have not had access, already. I chimed in with a reminder that he asked me do something a few months ago, that would require upper access and I failed him, He said then that he would look into this (well, he has lost his mom and gone into too many meetings to even conceive of, so I just asked if if he had not had time to make the necessary changes upon my employee certifications) and just said to my manager to get this done.
Before I left, my log in page included about nine system to which I had not ever gained access.
Now, I can do my job.
