This happened early this morning not too far from here:

A lone gunman dressed in riot gear burst into a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., at a midnight showing of the Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises" and methodically began shooting patrons, killing at least 12 people and injuring at least 38.

The suspect, James Holmes, 24, of Aurora, was caught by police in the parking lot of the Century 16 Movie Theaters, nine miles outside Denver, after police began receiving dozens of 911 calls at 12:39 a.m. MT. Police said the man appeared to have acted alone.

Witnesses in the movie theater said Holmes crashed into the auditorium through an emergency exit about 30 minutes into the film, set off a smoke bomb, and began shooting. Holmes stalked the aisles of the theater, shooting people at random, as panicked movie-watchers in the packed auditorium tried to escape, witnesses said.

"You just smelled smoke and you just kept hearing it, you just heard bam bam bam, non-stop. The gunman never had to reload. Shots just kept going, kept going, kept going," one witness told ABC News.

"I'm with coworkers and we're on the floor praying to God we don't get shot, and the gunshots continue on and on, and when the sound finally stopped, we started to get up and people were just bleeding," another theatergoer said....

I know, I was thinking the same thing when I read it.

Too frequently this has been the case, although I still say bull to it on some, since the person was no longer alive to truly evaluate and look at the whole picture.

Begining to wonder if we won't be all branded as security risks sooner or later.

No clue about this dude (Aurora) but I wouldn't be (that) surprised if Breivøk is one. Obviously obsessed, his sense of justice/he felt very wronged and also his methodical approach/years of planning/testing/etc.. Well, I hope not but..

What I really don't get is how the fuck can one willingly cause sooo much suffering to so many people. The victims/injured, family of them, kids, friends, etc.. people that the shooters have never met or know in one way or an other. If one doesn't see (a/o don't care about) the big time grieve their actions bring.. ja, then that someone's a pretty screwed up psychopath also. Clearly.

Hearing/reading about these things never up my mood.. au contraire..

It's nothing wrong with guns per se. On the contrary. Less than one hundred years ago people carried guns publically here in Europe too. Then some cowards made gun laws to disarm the people.

This is so obvious. I can never get in my head that people in Europe don't get it, especially since it is here gunlaws have actually been used for murdering people.
