Strokes are devastating and it's a small window to treat properly.  Depending upon the type of stroke.  Hemorrhage or clot induced.   And how severe the damage is.

Dad had a stroke, Mom had a stroke (both minor without lasting effects).  I've had 3 TIAs.  The Princess Royal had one before she was born and has mild/moderate cerebral palsy from it.  Her mild/moderate mental retardation has an unknown origin and her epilepsy started with an immature brain.  She also has ADHD - Inattentive and High Functioning Autism or Aspergers depending on the doctor.  Just a normal day in the Palace.
