My brother wants me, mum and my other bro to drive down to Gloucester and spend two nights at his for xmas, but I can barely stand staying for one.
I mean, his kids are good but it's him and the Mrs I can't put up with. In all likelihood they'll have some squabble and make us sit in their loungeroom for hours twiddling our thumbs while they sort it out. They say they want to have a picnic on boxing day but won't decide the what, when and where at the very last minute, if they even get around to deciding at all.
Whilst we were at mum's house having xmas eve dinner my bro called tonight to re-confirm the next 72 hours worth of plans, and me in my half-pickled state yelled over my mum's shoulder "NO I CAN'T TOLERATE MORE THAN ONE NIGHT!!" (which is the truth, I can't tolerate having to give other people control of two days of my life, and I don't want to spend it waiting around for people to get their act together when I could be spending it at home catching up on sleep or painting)

I hope he didn't think I was talking about the kids.

I don't blame you. That sounds incredibly stressful and I wouldn't want to go either. I don't like staying over at other people's houses because there's no time or space to have time to myself and too much of too many people and things and noises does my head in.

I remember one time when the three of us were in Brisbane for a music festival, and the night before we went for a wander in Queen St Mall.
They got into a tiff in the mall about something as stupid as him not answering her calls. And I swear not exaggerating, I had to stand in one spot outside the Telstra shop for TWO HOURS with them while they talked it out. We didn't get back to our motel to cook dinner until like 10:00pm.

Or what about the xmas me and my brother went down for xmas lunch with them and her parents. Got there at about 10:00am in the morning. We had to leave at 3pm to go home because my mum was still working back then. We had no idea where her parents lived so could only wait for them to escort us there. They finally got off their asses and we got to her parents at 2:30pm with the food still not cooked yet. We had to go home after one quick beer and took a perished doggy bag of white xmas, grapes and cheese.

And then there was last xmas with them and her family in which we arrived right on the time they told us to be there (12:00 midday) only to arrive to a finished BBQ with nothing left for us but cold leftovers. I mean, I originally though we were there for an extended family BBQ, but no we were just three people who seemingly got invited to eat the leftovers from their family BBQ. We even had to sit at another table and everything.

If my brother says anything stupid about my lack of desire to not stay another night I'll just walk out and leave right in front of him. I'm driving myself down so can leave any time I want  :zoinks:

Haha, excellent. That's the best option.

I'm being picked up by my parents and taken to my sister's. My parents don't want to drive home in the dark so they will leave early, good.

Still have things to wrap. Luckily I like wrapping.
I like it too. When i lived with my parents, Mum would let me wrap the presents every year. Once I even volunteered with a friend at our local shopping centre doing the wrapping of presents for customers. I was in my element.

You are both welcome at my house next year. :zoinks:

Sitting in the peace and quiet of the home.  Carla and Amber have gone to Christmas Mass.  I took a walk to put out the recyclables and did a spot of vacuuming.  Quite a contrast to yesterday at work and the xmas eve chaos of walmart.  Carla and I both worked at our respective stores and we both had war stories of chaos, crazy customers, idiot managers and insane noise levels of the store music.  Fortunately Amber made a taco supper for us after which I had my 2 glasses of wine in my black glass goblet with "Poison" etched on the side.  (I found it in a thrift store and it appealed to my macabre sense of humor and if memory serves, "Poison" was the name of a rock band in the 80's or 90's.)  A hot shower and simply chilling out did the rest.  So tired We all went to bed WAY earlier than usual.   8)

I need to buy a new mobile phone since I need to return my work mobile soon. Funny how important these things have become.

I need to stop overthinking, and just enjoy the time with my sister and brother-in-law.

Hugs. You're right but that's hard to do sometimes.

A lot of it has to do with the mixed ups and downs from this one particular human female :-/

Wondering if Scrap's return is a good thing for the board. I hope so.

As I told Scrap, let it go.  Don't pull a "callaway" and lose sleep over what Scrap might post.  Remember she admitted to losing sleep over Pea's possible postings.  Let it go and give it time.

Don't make me go to youtube and get that "Frozen" song and post it.   :CanofWorms:
