I should get up and go make dinner.

I need to go through my slides again instead of posting here.

So I've been lurking around some interesting (and completely unrelated) corners of the web lately only to discover that our very own Gareth is troll of the day there LOL.

God the interweb world is small

How things work out.

About 5 or so years ago The PR was absolutely ADAMANT that she did NOT want to go to Magnolia Community Services.  She wouldn't even get out the car to visit the gift shop (awesome place that sells pricey client made products).  My BF's daughter started there about 3 years ago.  We've gone to 2 talent(?) shows there.  I had put The PR on the client list a while back.  Well, as some of you know she started there in late July.

She said to me today, "Mom, I have something sad to tell you.  I want to go live at Magnolia."

I almost jumped for joy.  It will be a while because she needs to move up on the Social Services lists, there has to be an opening, etc.  BUT my girl is putting out feelers that she doesn't want to live with me forever.   :celebrate:  I'm holding my breath, because she hasn't even been there a month, but it's a start.

How amazing would that be! One massive worry you can let go of if it all comes together. Very happy for you and for the PR as well because it would be so good for her. I'm still working in bits and pieces on getting the oldest used to the idea of living away from home. He'll need support as well but most likely (hopefully?) an apartment with outside help that comes in and helps out with various day to day tasks. But my biggest worry is him being in an apartment building that isn't safe and he's easy to take advantage of.

Thanks, Phoenix. At times I just want to move out myself and not live with me, but there's almost no chance of that happening.

Are their suitable accomodations near your new location?  I know of a few parents who have their children living "at home" in a converted garage/mother-in-law apartment.  Not ideal, but it is an option.

I could definitely do that here but I decided not to because when I pass, it would be harder on him since I would be so involved in his day to day life and he would lose the house as he wouldn't be able to maintain the property. I figure if he's already out on his own, he would lose less when I die. Morbid, but it's a harsh reality right?

eta: I should say, that being said...I won't accept any accommodations for him that are unsafe or too far from me. He can't be in another city. I need to find something for him here or at the very least if it's a great location, easy to get back to this city via public transportation. There's places one city over but it's in a really rundown part of town and he wouldn't feel safe there. So he knows he can live here until we find something that will truly work for him.
