I know that it at least "used to be" illegal in Michigan. I once heard of a bizarre story of a man being arrested for screaming FUCK when he nearly drowned. They said it was because there were kids around.

Perfect solution. Buy heaps of parrots teach them to swear like troopers and release them in the city areas. So every day the constabulary will get by degrees desensitised to the swearing and the lawmakers will be reminded daily how weak their swear crackdown was when the go about their business and every second parrot says "Wark...hello fucker"

I did that to my bosses parrot years back. Myself and her daughter tried to get it to say "fuck you" for over an hour.

Damn parrot didn't say a thing until the next day when her dad went to take a nap. It spoke pretty clearly too I was told.

In the state of Victoria, apparently now you'll receive a $200+ fine for swearing in public if a cop hears you. WTF is this shit? I mean really, it's slowly becoming Orwellian here. They cite it as 'anti-socal' behaviour, oh bullshit, it's practically apart of Aussie culture to swear... and that begs the bigger problem, is it the obvious swear words like shit and fuck, or ALL of them like bloody, fricken, etc?

All I know is that, if I get caught and fined, I'm not only going to refuse to pay it, but I'm willing to create a legal storm over this and cause a fuss.

So have there been any prosecutions for this law??

Not yet, but knowing how the cops are with speeding tickets, there's a high chance people have been fined already. Easy money.

They had police districts on quota for speeding here for a while. Not liked by anyone but the government cashing the money.

Trying to imagine a minimum quotum on swearing offences makes me visualise cops, under cover, in every pub at Friday night.

absolutely orwellian, litterally so, since swearing IS directly connected to the human nervous system.
many an experiment can show that cursing relieves stress, and can even work as a physical anaesthetic, hightening your tolerance to stress and pain, the stress factor being the most important, since ammounts of stress will shorten your life in the long run, while cursing now and then, will relieve some.
