I love how I can go to a single place for serious discussion, mindless chatter, and excessive trolling. Not to mention general post whoring. ;D

We're a one-stop shop. Like WalMart, but more evil.  >:D

Indeed, though it lacks a little bit in each area. Except for the post whoring, that is.

So start an intelligent discussion.

I'm thinking of a few potential ones, but seeing as they are among those things I have thought plenty about but not yet altogether mangled into language-form, it might take some more time before I think of a good way to put them.

and can people explain their response to me, please.

I like the fact that most people don't expect us to babysit other members.  I like the fact that we're all adults and we're all treated as such.  I like the fact that we're all allowed to be real people, who get pissed off and/or angry about issues and are free to express this- I think most message boards want people to act like they're all the same and its hard sticking to the right side of the line when others are provoking you on those boards (I notice that Intensity's biggest critics are those that are very good at staying just a fraction to the right side of this play nice line).

I also like the fact that we do in fact support other members when they're going through shit, even though being a support site is not the purpose of Intensity.  I think of this as being like Intensity's soft. chewing centre hidden under a tough outer layer :D

I believe that at the moment some people are too worried about being seen as bullying others to get any real debate going and I hope this changes in the future. When Intensity²  first started people approached the debates with fire and passion and I would like to see this return.

Yes, I think everyone moderates their posts. I know I do--there's been several dozen posts that I've written and then deleted, because I've considered what I wrote to be off-topic, needlessly insulting, etc, etc, etc. If you have no qualms about posting an insult, it simply means that you don't see the need to moderate--which is fine, here. We may ask you to back it up, but that's fine, too.

Yes - if I'm understanding it correctly. When one person does things, it attracts other like-minded people... so if we had enough members on here starting intellectual threads (or one member starting tons), then the overall tone of the site and people's experience of it would change.

And as for the own moderator part, we've had people self-correct on here - earlier today I remember reading a thread by teejay where he apologized for being a prick, for example. Not everyone does it, of course, but people still take more responsibility for their words here than I've seen members do on other sites.

Is that the kind of explanation you wanted?
You'll never self-actualize the subconscious canopy of stardust with that attitude.

to answer seriously: i doubt it, mcj, sadly.  cos i'd like just a little while off from feeling like a piece of shit, and that everything's pointless.

thanks to everyone else for your responses.  they've clarified that i wasn't so interested in the self-moderation bit, and more about getting the experience they want bit.

why are you sitting on your hands, dunc...?
