I put him on my block list so that I could read this thread.
I like The Settlers 2, but I often give up on playing it because it slows to such a snail's pace on large maps with lots of buildings and transport links. Part of the problem is that the algorithm that controls the transport system breaks down when the system exceeds a certain size, and starts shuffling items and workers back and forth between nodes instead of getting them to a particular destination.
oh yes, deliberate slow i love, accidental slow is different.
i get the same w sim city 4 on my old computer. any population above 100 000, and the game would grind down to a halt, even at "cheetah speed" i could sit and look at a frozen screen for minutes before i saw A! something moving! then quiet again. aggravating
on this computer it moves significantly more, but i still want something better for games...
