I used to see coloured outlines around all objects, as a kid. Blue tones on one side, red to the other.
Kind of a pity that that disappeared.

When I was in kindergarten/first grade I was obsessed with maps and would spend hours tracing them onto paper

Did you wear glasses?

I feel little to no emotion. Everything I do in life, "good" or "bad", is a response to a situation in line with my strict moral code. This is probably a result of my Asperger Syndrome, and I am greatful for the unique way in which I view the world.

I did not. I could see everything clear, in my memory. Couple of months ago, there was a car ad on TV, where they had done a trick with the images. It looked a lot like how I saw the world as a kid. Did not see that ad again, alas.
I had lots and lots of floaters too, as a kid. Was fascinated by them.

That's weird. Did you ever get a good explanation?

No, I never did. I only realised it was weird after it had gone. Who was I to question my sight, when I could see everything well? I did love it though. And the effect was stronger on brighter days.
Have wondered if it was something similar to old printing, when colourrosters are not aligned well. As if my head was not ready to get the whole spectrum aligned the way it should be. But, then the things I saw should not be as clear as they were.

I was thinking defective optics, basically. The symptoms are rather obvious, with reds and blues shifted along the spectrum. This happens naturally but if you have specific refractive errors, the problems will be more obvious. I'm thinking corneal damage, problems with intra ocular pressure, anything that causes the kind of spectral shifts that you described.

But, would those problems just fade away over time?

Sometimes I really miss the glowing outlines.

Yes, a few of them would simply fade over time.
