wtf is this under my nail?

i get these black spots, lines under my nails and need to know what they are, does anyone else get them? are they harmless? i didnt smash my finger in a door so i know its not that

I sometimes get something like that, but nearer the tip of my finger. I think its probably just some dried blood under the nail.
