Been there, done that....the mess always returns.
It's like death and taxes.

Good luck to you though.

Thank you. You are absolutely right, maintenance is the tricky part!

So are you content about the damage control you did today (We'll better skip talking about maintenance...)?

Yes, I am happy to be making progress. Getting started can be the hardest part.  :2thumbsup:

And some starts are better than others too.

Today's start wasn't bad at all, when you think I was barely home.

6  carton boxes of paper gone, and 4 bin-liners packed with girls clothes. And did some throwing away of stuff too.

No. Clutter stresses me out. My anxiety just spiked looking at that picture of your truck. I want to go over there and put those power tools (Bosch BTW, very nice) back in their cases where they belong.

I am also like that, but only half the time.

I used to be messy. Although I think the main reason was I had too much stuff and was too perfectionistic. It took so much time and energy to keep ALL of that in its place that it was easier to just say "fuck it" and let it go to hell.

Over the years though I've learned to downsize my crap. I still have some clutter, because I can't stand the visual look of sparse rooms. But now everything has its place and I'm usually pretty good with returning things to their places.

I think the stuff I have the most problems with is cleaning the dishes (I always rinse but hate actually cleaning them) and cleaning the bathroom. I don't reuse dirty dishes, but the rinsed ones may end up sitting on the counter for a few days.

Straightening and organizing is one thing, cleaning is another.  :-\

We had a time when the Princess Royal was throwing away her utensils.  Now we have her place everything on the countertop for us to handle.

I can't say I haven't had the inclination. Although now that I finally have a matching dish set, there's incentive not to. ;)
