LONDON – Ash clouds from Iceland's spewing volcano disrupted air traffic across Europe on Thursday as authorities closed air space over Britain, Ireland and the Nordic countries. Tens of thousands of passengers were stranded as flights were canceled and it was not clear when it would be safe enough to fly again.

Iceland is only just emerging from the financial crisis and the North Atlantic island nation of just 320,000 has spent months wrangling with Britain and the Netherlands over debts incurred after its tops banks went under in 2008.

Lots of discussions now, about if the governments are not too careful with the flight restrictions.

Wonder where it will lead to.

It is kind of weird. I've not seen a sky without white stripes since shortly after 9/11. Now it is for days in a row by now. Very weird. I've seen my first clear blue skies since childhood again.
