Don't Get Married

I'll never marry. I find it stupid. I think girls just want a wedding so they can live their childhood princess dream and have a day all about them.
Then after six months they divorce. It's a huge expense. That's just my opinion.
I also don't want to share my things. It's my fucking PlayStation.

We didn't have a big showy wedding, just went to the registry office. We didn't spend a lot of money, all up including honeymoon was under $1000.

I don't like sharing either, that's why everyone has their own computer here

There are about a million things about marriage that scare the living fuck out of me.  Particularly the fact that I have yet to see a couple where marriage didn't change things.  :/

But sometimes it can't work. And unfortunately, we haven't constructed good rituals to handle matters when it doesn't work. Most of it ends up being shouting, lawyers, money, courtrooms and lots and lots of anger.

All I can do to improve my situation is to improve myself. Trying to improve someone else--for whatever reason--is like trying to teach a pig to whistle.

Getting married was the biggest mistake of my life.

I got married after knowing him for only 6 months. The first few years were really good. i like being on a short leash. I like doing things for my partner. Then it got bad. Got really lonely.

So I am still technically married even though we broke up a year and a half ago, because he is an asshole and will not cooperate.

I wish I never got married. And no matter what, I am never getting married again.

Getting married probably saved my life.

I had an insatiable lust for hedonistic pleasures.
Settling down and having a family calmed me down.

I think each has to be open and realistic about their expectations.

I'm amazed in this day and age that some people enter into marriage believing that a piece of paper gives you absolute control of another person's life.

This was my ex, my FIL said jump, and my MIL asked how high. This has worked for them, I'm however very independent and, a piss-poor puppet.

Divorce has worked better for us (yes, we are still together), and had we both sat down and talked more about both our expectations for the future before we got married, I think we could have avoided a ton of grief.

I almost did it.  I will never get married now.

I never thought I would get married, but he really really pushed for it. I gave in and married him. Now he won't let me go.

The only reason one must get married would be if they have religious beliefs. You can live together and stay unmarried and live the same exact lifestyle. I do hope to be in a committed ltr again one day and live with my man, but have no desire for another piece of paper.
