mushrooms are my least favorite food.  has nothing to do with the flavour.  but the texture in my mouth drives me batty.

I don't mind the texture as much as the sound of chewing them. They squeak and it makes my teeth itch to hear them. Very few of them actually have any flavor to me, but the Chanterelle, which I find in the woods here, are awesome.

The thing that gave me the most trouble when my daughter was in the hospital when she was a baby was that nasogastric tube.  They actually wanted me to stick that thing down her nose into her stomach.  They gave me a stethoscope so I could listen and hear whether it was in her stomach or lungs, but I could not really be sure how it was supposed to sound.  It would be really bad if it had gone into her lungs, of course.  I did not want to do it, so the nurse made me do it with her hand over my hand, but my daughter cried the whole time and so did I, so the doctor decided to send us a home health care nurse to take care of putting in the tube, if it came out.

Did it hurt you while it was going in?

I used to work at a mushroom farm and those particular mushrooms (the one of which you have pictured) were also called Swiss Brown.

And Spokane Girl, I think his answer is no although he can think of worse things to happen.

it wasn't so bad.  but i was constantly trying to gag it back up as it was going down.


they did it to me twice.  the second time it was much easier, because they had me drinking water as it went down.

i have had two bowel obstructions in my life.  one when i was born, another 35 years later.

i am thinking that by the time i get my third one, i will simply live with a device that takes my waste from me.
