Why the fuck, do squatters have rights?

 ???  It should be a simple matter, not a civil one.  You prove that its your house, they can't prove its theirs.  Bang, police remove them, and take them to the station, and they are charged with breaking entry.

Because you live in a shit country. Not that mine is that much better, but every time I feel how I hate Sweden to my bones, I look at the UK and think: "It could have been worse".

First of all it would have taken a while before anything happened. Then the cops would have removed them, gently if they didn't do any resistance. Then they probably would have gotten away with it or being given a ticket for it.

That is, of course, if it was a private or public house being empty. Being into a house with residents in it, the residents owning the house and you refusing to leave is a pretty serious crime here.

I know. The Swedish word is husockupanter, "house occupants". But of course there are a few exceptions moving into houses with residents in them, usually into basements or stores in rental houses.

Er, not in the case I saw on tv earlier.  They were having renevations, and the footings re-done I think.  The family had tp spend over £4000 in courts, to get the 3 Romanian families removed.  Thats fair is it?

Like I said, I'm glad that I live in Sweden when I compare it with the UK.

Bollocks to politically correct.  Its fucking stupid.  Our law system helps the criminals more than it does the victims.

Here squatters will be kicked out immediately if the house is not abandoned long enough. After a certain time of being abandoned, over a year, squatters do have some rights. Strange thing is that anti-squatting renters hardly have rights.

Some squatters do it for idealistic reasons. Some marvellous buildings have been saved from the sledgehammer because of squatters like that. Buildings that now are in the possession and use of local authorities. Or are being turned into heritage attractive places.
