I like trains, do you like trains?  If you don't like trains, too bad, because I'm about to tell you everything you never wanted to know about trains in an unreasonably loud voice.

So tell me about these 6,500 hp engines. What's the displacement? How many cylinders? what's the bore & stroke? what's the stroke to rod ratio? How many valves per cylinder? How many injectors per cylinder? Do the pistons have cast iron domes? Are they turbocharged? supercharged? What are the specs on said turbo/ super charger?

Ok, so 6500hp was a little unrealistic with what you usually see on the railroads, here's a GE C44-9W (otherwise known as a GE dash-9) which is far more common on American railroads in freight duty.  Usually 2 or more of these locomotives will be lashed together in MU mode where all locomotives are controlled by the one in front.  You can often see trains with 5 of these locomotives all running in unison, acting as if it's all one big giant locomotive.

Builder    GE Transportation Systems
Model    C44-9W
AAR wheel arr.    C-C
Gauge    4 ft 8+1⁄2 in (1,435 mm)
Trucks    GE HiAd
Wheel diameter    42 in (1.07 m)
Length    73 ft 2 in (22.30 m)
Width    10 ft 3 in (3.12 m)
Height    16 ft 0 in (5.03 m)
Locomotive weight    425,000 lb (193,000 kg) (212.5 tons)
Fuel capacity    5,000 US gal (18,900 L)
Prime mover    GE 7FDL16
Engine type    45° V16, four stroke cycle
Aspiration    turbocharged
Alternator    GE GMG197
Traction motors    GE 5GE752AH
Transmission    Alternator, silicon diode rectifiers, DC traction motors
Power output    4,400 hp (3,300 kW)
Tractive Effort: 142,000lb starting effort, 105,640lb continuous effort
Locale    North America

You sir are definitely few of a kind. I thought I was one of the aspies out there that liked to smoke weed and get shitfaced. I get really tired of aspies being portrayed as prudish as I am definitely not.

Why did I not know this? You fly under the radar well. Unlike some of us who get drunk and post on I2. Not that I'm referring to myself. :hide:

Yeah, but the rest of us blab about it or post while doing it when coherency/type skills become shit. ;) Jman was flying under the radar from what I knew about him (although granted that was on WP so it was filtered Jman) but he obviously has another side to him that I didn't know about before now and I found it cool. Okay, none of this is making sense and I'm sober, and not high. Just tired. :P

yo, traindude!

the "sesamy train"
its part of the sesamy-street franchise in norway (norwegian sesamy street was re-modelled into a "sesamy station" concept, with this colorful train as part of the props. it is still used to carry passengers, and is probably a hoot for the kids, simply cus its from tv :D)

Here's the train I take most days:

Are you interested in underground trains at all or is it just the overground ones?

Pfft!! You copied all those specs off of wiki! I want to know piston to bore clearances  & shit like that. What type of oil do the use? Why is is a 45 deg v-16 instead of a 90 deg??

Canada is getting closer and closer to legalization.
Yeah, but you thought that about gay marriage, too.   :duh:

Hi Normal Impaired.

:welcome:

Does Massachusetts have medical marijuana laws?

Colorado does and I think California and Maine do too.

MA doesn't have medical marijuana, but it did pass a decriminalization bill last year.

Currently only Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maryland, Montana, Michigan, Colorado, Washington (state), Oregon, California, Nevada and New Mexico have medicinal laws.  It seems like California is the most lax on the laws, and is one of the reasons I keep trying (unsuccessfully) to move there.
Yeah- in Mass, depending on the town, that made some cops extra-bitchy about catching those dangerous, hardened-criminal-minded potheads, lol.  (Fucking crooked moronic wankers that they be.)

Which trains are you referring to as being gay?  I'm into freight trains, 40,000 tons of steel moving at 60mph behind 3 6500hp diesel engines just has a certain allure to me, especially knowing that it takes more than a mile to stop one, regardless of what it has to completely destroy in the process.

And when you say that trains are kind of gay, how so?  Do you mean that trains like to do weird sexual things with other trains of the same type?  If so, could you post a youtube video of this happening as it seems like something that would be strangely interesting.
Fine line bwteen self-stereotyping, joking around, and trolling.  I wonder what you'll ultimately turn out to be?

^trolling?

man, lately forumers seem to really have forgotten what trolling looks like...

on WP too, they accuse a lot of people for trolling there. maybe i should invite "jimmy" over, he could show you the meaning of trolling :D

unfortunately i dunno how to find the bastard, hes probably dead drunk in some midwestern american shithole, getting buttfucked by some other eccentric just like him :I
"jimmy" is needed on ALL forums in fact :(

I think the issue of "Sober Aspies" has to do with sample selection.  Wrongplanet is full of 1. sensitive goody-goods and 2. folks with poor social skills who self(mis)-diagnose.  I'd say the reluctance to drink or do drugs is a social handicap no matter what else you have going on for or against you in the social skills department.  Outright refusal, moreso, and being judgemental while abstaining from substances is pretty fucking off-putting.  Granted, my bias is being "college-aged," but from what I see of my peers, drinking seems to make you far more likely to have a large social circle (and, of course, to have had a larger number of previous sexual partners- this is a non-gender-specific observation.)  I'm not trying to draw a causal link, here, but it's worth thinking about.

(Then again, I'm in the category of 'tolerant, but substance abstinent,' and I suppose could be considered neurotypical.... but that never seems quite right.  I'm not on the spectrum, but I'm pretty fucking weird.)
