What noise?

This noise, which comes from the northbridge.  It's not particularly loud, but it's extremely irritating and difficult to ignore, and has been getting progressively worse over the past 12 months or so.  My current setup is fairly old and I'm about due to upgrade the major components, so the problem will solve itself eventually.

That's horrible.
I bought an external disk reader/writer (USB connection) and hid my computer behind and below my desk and well out of my face. It helped quite a bit, but I had already replaced all the fans with "silent ones."  Now, the noisy point in my box is the cooling unit mounted on the video processor.

I got an Antec P182 case a while ago, which has a sound-reducing design, and I got a quieter PSU and replaced the 80mm CPU fan with a low-noise 120mm fan.  I've also removed a couple of old, noisy HD's and replaced them with new, quiet ones, but I've still got one HD that makes a sharp clicking noise when the heads are moving (which seems to be all the time in Windows XP, even though my swap file isn't on that disk; just my OS) and the case fans that came with the P182 are a bit louder than I'd like.

I am sitting in Wally's seat at Fenway waiting for the stupid national anthem so I can go to my seat and watch the game. I don't worship deities, demigods, governments, or countries, so I refuse to participate in this ritual. We are all supposedly the same species and definitely all live on the same planet, so I see no need to separate myself from everyone else through my religion or nationality. Normally I just sit in my seat in silence, but then people throw shit at me and those around me get pelted. It's Sunday, so they will do bleep bleep America during the 7th inning stretch. I will remain seated, with my hat on and probably put some musc on through my headphones. I expect to get pelted as usual. By the 7th inning a lot of people are drunk. Land of the free my ass!
