Depends.  My brother lost a lot of blood and nearly died because of his hemorrhoids.  If I remember correctly, they had to give him six pints of blood after they put him in the hospital because his hematocrit was so low.  I don't know how bad yours are, but it sounds like dealing with them has become very unpleasant.
