Fires got a little to close for my liking today.

The first picture was taken from our front door.

The second picture was taken just a couple of hundred metres down the road.

And the third picture is obviously a water bombing helicopter also taken from our front door.

Lucky the wind was blowing in the opposite direction or else the fire would have been headed towards us. It was much closer to my grandparents house and they were on standby ready to evacuate if things got worse.

That's good the fire didn't get any closer Lord Phlexor. It must have been nerve wracking to have it get that close. The douche bags that deliberately set some of that rash of fires should be fucking executed. I hope your family continues to get through it okay.

Your grass looks so dry it looks like it could catch fire easily.  Do you have water restrictions on watering lawns where you are?

The Ash Wednesday bushfires, when I was a kid. A large fire was headed towards our town (Pakenham), but at the last minute the wind direction changed before it hit the main town.

I still remember that day, at 3pm the sky was so dark it was like dusk. My step dad at the time owned a second-hand furniture shop and they were friends with the people who ran the milkbar. So they sent us kids to hang out there probably so we wouldn't get so freaked out. I was happy because they had an Original sit down tabletop version of the arcade game Donkey Kong. But for years afterwards you would still see so many blackened trees everywhere with fresh leaves growing on them. It looked weird.
