Agreed - have you phoned up your nearest branch of the Labour party and offered to do some door knocking or something for them?

Can't see it'll make any difference - this seat is almost certainly doomed, since Ann Cryer isn't standing for re-election. Her principled stance and willingness to work for the town got her plenty of local support, but sadly Ilkley is in this constituency... if, as seems likely, Labour voters can't be arsed, the suburbs and Ilkley will turn this back into a Tory marginal. Anyway, as a doorknocker I'd be more likely to lose Labour votes - I'm not really a people person.

The social democrats here stopped being social democrats about 20 years ago. They were never democrats but now they're not even social.

You don't have to be - really atm its just canvassing and finding out who people are voting for and more importantly to remind them to vote. It really does not require much in the way of social skills.
